FCSF Relief is immediate assistance in a given situation: financial assistance with rent, utilities and other bills to relieve the situation: a way to get “over the hump." Referrals to other agencies also provide a process for a family to receive relief.

"Teach a man a fish…"Bridges of Hope is Betterment: meeting with a family once a month to assist with a budget, talk to an attorney along with other professional volunteers to allow the family to understand and act upon the one problem they can resolve.

Colorado Church Builds Bridges of Hope

Faced with an unemployment rate that’s one of the highest in Colorado, Fellowship Christian Reformed Church in Greeley started Bridges of Hope, a ministry that connects church, government, and community agencies with those who need services.

One evening every month, the church hosts a meal where representatives from up to 20 different agencies are present to offer legal advice, career or budget counseling, and various other forms of professional help.

I was recently talking with a group of successful consultants working with all types of nonprofit organizations. We all agreed that a major perk of consulting is the great variety in our jobs. I will add that an even better perk is meeting forward-thinking people who are doing valuable work in their communities. Another way our JVA team thinks about it is like this: We work with people who believe they can change the world.

Little Relief Goes a Long Way

GREELEY — When Elsa Gallegos’ car stopped working, her life began to break down, too.
The Greeley resident, who commuted each day to her job in Boulder, couldn’t get to work without her vehicle.

And with bills to pay from a recent surgery, as well as the responsibility and costs of raising three sons, the single mother couldn’t afford to get the car fixed.
